Announcing: Workshops & Full Line-up

Only a little under a month to go until Coded Matter(s) #5: Coding the Club!

The full line-up has been finalized and we’re also very pleased to present two fresh new workshops for your education and enjoyment. We’ve pulled in some big names this time, so be quick: space is limited and these ones are bound to fill up swiftly!

You’ve already seen part of the line-up being announced, with 4DSOUND and Children of the Light doing showcases about their new spatially immersive sound system and the Darkside live show respectively. We’ve also announced Peter Kirn will open the night with a keynote and be the moderator as well. Simon Geilfus (visual performer & software developer of the famous visual label ANTIVJ) is the last addition, with an artist talk about creating stage designs and performing live visuals with creative software tools.

In addition to their talks, Peter Kirn and Simon Geilfus will both be giving workshops, so all you creators, coders and tinkerers out there: take note!

Peter will be giving The Encoded Groove: Free Soundmakers with Pure Data: an intensive crash course, in which you’ll learn how you to manipulate time and sound in the free and open source tool Pure Data. Those new to patching will get to see the basics); those with some experience should still pick up some new tips and techniques.

Simon will be giving Creative Coding: Live Visuals with Cinder: an introduction to creative coding and Cinder. In this workshop, you’ll work with custom software which will enable you to code in a Cinder-inspired scripting language. Built on Lua (a language with a gentle learning curve), the software will allow to easily learn and code in a live environment, and directly see the result of your work. You’ll be introduced to Cinder without the hassle of learning specificities of the language or how to use an IDE. Perfect for everyone who already has some experience, but wants to take the next step!

The workshop tickets will be on sale starting tomorrow, Saturday 15.

We already have more people attending on Facebook than we can actually fit into the venue, so now would be a good time to get your tickets if you haven’t yet. See you there!
