From the Wikipedia article on Shaders:

In the field of computer graphics, a shader is a computer program that is used to do shading – the production of appropriate levels of light and color within an image – or, in the modern era, also to produce special effects or do postprocessing. A definition in layman’s terms might be given as “a program that teaches a computer how to draw something in a specific and unique way”.

There’s a lot of shady business going on in the world today, but not all of it is bad news! Shading can be very useful indeed, and if you want to learn from the best about working with shaders, we have good news for you:

On September 10th, the day of Coded Matter(s) #1: Unfolding Space, Elektropastete and Raphael de Courville will give a workshop on the use of shaders in creative coding. After working with everyone from Lenny Kravitz and DJ Koze to Intel and Hugo Boss and making everything from permanent installations in nightclubs to choreographies for drones, these guys know what they’re talking about. Being pro’s in this field, their workshop is sure to be a great learning experience for any visual artist and/or creative coder looking to expand their knowledge.

The workshop is only 30 euro’s (including a ticket to the evening programme!) and no previous experience with shaders is required, so if you’d like to learn the ways of the shader: head over to the workshop page and sign up now!
